In a major development that poised to boost the sports development, Upper Lumparing will get a state-of-the-art sports ground at Mynsaiñ Village, spanning approximately 3 acres.
South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai on Thursday accompanied by village heads, local sports clubs and officials from the Forest Department, conducted an inspection of the proposed site.
This facility is expected to surpass the JN Sports Complex in Polo in both scale and amenities.
Sanbor revealed that plans for the facility include provisions for multiple sports disciplines, such as swimming, athletics, basketball and volleyball, among others.
To secure the land, a unique land-exchange agreement is being considered. Under this arrangement, the Raid will exchange 15 acres of land to ensure environmental conservation.
Once the land acquisition process is complete, a Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared to secure funding and initiate construction, further informed Shullai.
