Shillong :A scooty was allegedly set on fire by unidentified persons at Lumparing Block-D in Shillong at around 2:53 am on Tuesday, leaving the vehicle completely gutted.
According to the owners, the scooty, bearing registration number AS 01 GA 6206, belonged to their younger brother and was parked in the area when it was set ablaze. The vehicle was severely damaged and reduced to ashes in the fire.
The family expressed concern over the incident and clarified that despite the vehicle carrying an Assam registration number, they are not from Assam and were born and brought up in Shillong.
They suspect that the registration number may have been a factor in the vehicle being targeted, although the exact motive behind the incident remains unclear.
