The Office of the Superintendent of Police, Nongpoh organised an awareness programme yesterday on how to fight against the menace of drugs and also talk about the POCSO law at the Football Ground in 20 mile village.
The Police Department before commencing with the awareness programme on the menace and effects of drugs in the society, organised a friendly football match with the youths of 20 Mile village as opponent in which the police department came out victorious by scoring 4 goals against 3.
On this day, the Police Department of Ri-Bhoi District also presented several melodious songs on how to avoid drugs which has affected both young male and females of the present generation.
The Police Department of Ri-Bhoi District from their end, as a way of encouraging young boys also felicitated Paul Wahlang who had been helpful in the arrest of one person with drugs worth about 3 Crores from the toll gate of NHAI 20 Mile in the recent months.
Present on this day were also DSP Traffic-Shri.Gilbert Marshillong, DSP Headquarters- Shri. V.D.S Rymbai, the Incharge of Byrnihat Outpost-Shri.A.N.Sangma and the 2nd Incharge-Shri.P.K Lyngdoh amongst others.
