SHILLONG, July 19: The Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Prestone Tynsong said the Government has left it to the discretion of the District Administration with regards to opening up the road through Them Ïew Mawlong which had been closed for vehicular movement for more than 4 years.
The said road had been closed for vehicular movement from the time trouble had erupted in May 2018 which is also one of the reasons leading to other roads close to this one in the area becoming congested as well as resulting in other problems too in connection with pedestrian movement which has led to many to express concern and appeal especially to open up the said road.
Speaking today with Prestone Tynsong, he said that opening up the road is a task of the District Administration which includes the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, and added that if the District Administration thinks it is safe or if they think it is not safe yet too, that is in their discretion since the Government has left it in the discretion of the District Administration.
