Tura: The Governor of Meghalaya has summoned a special session of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) Tomorrow.
This came following a petition by 21 Members of District Council (MDCs) claiming that Chief Executive Member Albinush R. Marak has lost the confidence of the House.
According to a notification issued by the District Council Affairs Department on Saturday, the petition was submitted to the Governor on March 14.
Invoking powers under Rule 36(5) of the Assam and Meghalaya Autonomous Districts (Constitution of District Councils) Rules, 1951, the Governor directed that the session be convened to conduct proceedings under Rule 22(1) and other necessary business in accordance with the rules governing the autonomous district councils.
