SHILLONG, June 27: The State Government has decided to revamp all the processes in the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) under the Power Department. This decision was taken at the Cabinet Meeting held today the 27th of June.
The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Kongkal Sangma informed that the Government has approved to divide the functions of the Managing Director (MD) and the Chairman of the MeECL, and it was decided that a full-time MD be appointed for the MeECL who can be either an IAS officer or a Technocrat who is an expert in the field, and he or she will be appointed as per stipulated regulations.
At the same time he informed that the MD of the MeECL will also be the MD of the MePGDCL,MePDCL and MePTCL which are branches under the Power Department while the Chairman of the MeECL will be the Minister incharge of the Power Department and the Chairmans of the other branches will be the Chief Secretary and Addl. Chief Secretary.
