Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the national capital today to press key state demands. Sangma urged the Centre to create a separate cadre for All-India Services officers (IAS & IPS) for Meghalaya, ending the current joint arrangement with Assam.
He also raised the demand for including the Khasi and Garo languages in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution, the long-pending implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state, and proposed naming a road in Delhi after late P.A. Sangma.
The meeting highlighted Meghalaya’s push for greater administrative autonomy and recognition of its cultural identity at the national level.
