Shillong: The Chief Ministers of both Meghalaya and Assam had an informal meeting on Wednesday at the Cabinet Room in the Secretariat, Shillong.
Speaking to reporters, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K Sangma, stated that both the Chief Ministers had discussed matters related to the ongoing border talks between the two states. CM Conrad mentioned that since this is an ongoing process, they take every opportunity to discuss the matter, aiming to improve the understanding between the two states.
The Meghalaya CM further explained that during today’s informal meeting with the Assam CM, certain conditions, situations, and issues were discussed, but no definitive outcome was reached. CM Conrad added that this dialogue would continue periodically.

CM Himanta Biswa stated that they discussed matters related to the Regional Committees of both states during the meeting. CM Biswa also noted significant progress, such as the recent agreement between the Governments of Assam and Meghalaya on the border post. He mentioned that progress was happening on both sides, and they also discussed Confidence Building Measures during the meeting.
However, he emphasized that no official announcement would be made since today’s meeting was informal. He informed that a formal meeting would follow in the coming days, and only then could an official announcement be expected.
