The farmers from Rangphlang and Rangslang expressed their happiness at the reopening of the ropeway used for transporting their crops after it had been shut down for 3 months, and stated that only people who have had to walk to Rangphlang can understand the problem of farmers in transporting their produce.
As per the statements of residents from the area, the cost charged by a person who has to carry on his back a 50 kgs sack of rice is ₹300 and it takes upto 2 hours for that person to reach the village whereas the cost of transporting the same on the ropeway is only ₹50 and it reaches the village in 5 minutes.
Following the reopening of this ropeway, the farmers especially thanked the Minister incharge of the Department of Agriculture who is also their local MLA, Banteidor Lyngdoh for listening to their pleas through the leaders of the HFU, Central body in facilitating the reopening of the ropeway which had been shut down.
