SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday inaugurated the Rs 11.52-crore Meghalayan Age Pavilion at Ward’s Lake, describing it as a showcase of Meghalaya’s culture, cuisine, local products and creative talent.
Spread across 16,000 sq ft, the Pavilion houses PRIME-supported enterprises, a handicrafts and handloom store, a food and hospitality zone, and a fruit wine experience centre.
Sixteen PRIME entrepreneurs received sanction letters to operate from the facility. The restaurant was handed over to Hills on a Plate winner Adonijah Lyngdoh, while the Fruit Wine Experience Centre was entrusted to the Meghalaya Fruit Wine Makers’ Association.
The Pavilion is the first visible outcome of the government’s Creative Redevelopment Plan for Shillong, which aims to repurpose government land for public use and economic opportunities.
