Shillong, Sept 26 — Tension gripped Rangblang village in South West Khasi Hills after a vehicle belonging to Ferdinand Syiemiong, Acting Syiem of Nobosohphoh Syiemship, was set ablaze late on the night of September 25.
The car, which had been parked by the roadside, was completely gutted in the fire. This is the second targeted attack on Syiemiong’s vehicle — earlier, its windows had been smashed, and now it has been burned down.
Expressing grief over the repeated incidents, Syiemiong appealed to those responsible to come forward and clarify their motives. “I do not know if I have wronged anyone to deserve such acts,” he said, urging for an end to hostility and acts of arson.
Police are investigating the matter and security has been stepped up in the area to prevent further flare-ups.
