Nongpoh, September 7: Two young athletes from Umsaw Nongkharai, Ri Bhoi District, have been selected to represent Meghalaya at the prestigious IFMA Youth World Muay Thai Championship. The event is scheduled to take place in Thailand from September 11 to 21, 2024.
The selected athletes, Dasngewtngen Nongrum and Ailin Grace Kharbyngar, will be competing on the international stage, showcasing their skills in the traditional martial art of Muay Thai.
Ahead of their departure, the Umsaw Nongkharai village community organized a special send-off program to offer their support and encouragement. During the event, the Dorbar Shnong (village council) presented financial assistance to the athletes as a gesture of solidarity and best wishes for their upcoming competition.
The community has rallied behind the young athletes, expressing pride in their achievement and hoping for a successful performance at the championship.
