Shillong : Three people, including a woman, were killed and three others seriously injured after a Hyundai i10 carrying a family met with an accident on National Highway 37 at Khetri in Assam on Monday.
According to reports, the vehicle, bearing registration number AS 01 DX 5663, was travelling from Guwahati towards Nagaon when the driver allegedly lost control of the car. The vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a roadside barrier before being severely damaged.
Local residents and police rushed to the spot and rescued the injured, who were subsequently shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
Preliminary reports suggest that overspeeding may have led to the accident. Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances that resulted in the crash.
