HEADLINES

SHILLONG, February 02: Education Minister of Meghalaya, Lahkmen Rymbui said that he has not received the total number of school dropouts in the last two years due to the pandemic and expressed concern over the presence of students who have had to drop out of school in the two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said that the Government has conducted a detailed study on this matter and added that teaching in offline classrooms is very important as it is vastly different from online classes while stating that it cannot be denied that there have been students dropping out of school in the past two years, and stated that the Government will ensure that some action is taken to avoid students dropping out from schools.

Rymbui also said that the Indian Government in the recent Budget presented in the Parliament has increased the allocation for the education sector compared to the previous year, which he says indicates that the Indian Government to has understood that there is a downward trajectory in the education sector and in order to upgrade it again, the cooperation of the State Government and Central Government is necessary.
