Stone quarry owners and traders in Meghalaya are eagerly awaiting the Supreme Court’s decision on a case concerning the ban on exporting limestone outside the state. The case, which has been ongoing for nearly two years, is scheduled for a hearing on October 1.
The Meghalaya government, supported by quarry owners and traders, has been fighting to lift the ban that has significantly impacted the limestone industry. Speaking on the matter, Jropsing Nongkhlaw, Chairman of the Steering Committee representing the quarry owners and traders, stated that all necessary documents have been submitted to the government in support of the case.
Nongkhlaw expressed hope for a favorable ruling from the Supreme Court, which would provide relief to those involved in the limestone trade, who have been struggling since the export ban was imposed.
