No UDP MLA set to quit party, says Titos

HEADLINES

United Democratic Party (UDP) General Secretary and MDC, Titosstarwell Chyne has dismissed speculation that any of the party’s MLAs are preparing to leave the UDP, calling such reports baseless.

Addressing the rumours, Chyne said all UDP legislators remain united and that there are no signs of internal division within the party. He asserted that there is no truth to claims that any MLA has decided to quit the party.

He said the elected representatives respect the mandate entrusted to them by the people and remain committed to honouring that responsibility.

Chyne also maintained that the UDP functions collectively, with no culture of top-down directives. While differences of opinion may arise within the party, he said discussions ultimately lead to consensus.

He further stated that coalition politics will continue to be a reality in Meghalaya in the coming years, adding that the UDP is already preparing to put up a stronger fight in the 2028 Assembly elections.
