JSU and KSU Demand Cancellation of Nurse Recruitment Results, Highlight Concerns Over Examination Process

HEADLINES

The Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU) and Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) have expressed concern over irregularities in the recent recruitment process for staff nurse positions, following confusion and dissatisfaction among candidates last week.

JSU General Secretary Treibor Suchen criticized the government’s focus on hosting concerts while neglecting job recruitment processes, calling it a serious disregard for the future of job-seeking youth.

The unions met with Health Minister Dr. Ampareen Lyngdoh to discuss the issues surrounding the recruitment of GNM and ANM nurses. During the meeting, they were informed about a grievances cell that provides a 10-day window for candidates to raise concerns. The unions are demanding a halt to the recruitment process and an opportunity for candidates to report their findings regarding the examination procedures.

KSU Employment and Monitoring Cell Chairman, Reuben Najiar, raised concerns that the number of job openings was far fewer than the number of candidates called. He also demanded that both current results be canceled, and marks of all 6,000 candidates be released, citing errors in the examination questions.

A job-seeking candidate added that the appearance of two separate result lists has raised further questions among applicants.
