The bodies of seven family members, including two children, who were buried in a landslide triggered by heavy rain at Atisia Songma village in South Garo Hills, were recovered today. The victims, aged between 1 and 60 years, were found by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) after a search effort that began on October 4.
According to the state Disaster Management Authority, the inclement weather has affected 54 villages and over 4,900 people across Garo Hills, with 58 houses reported damaged. NDRF and SDRF teams are continuing rescue and relief operations.
