The Meghalaya BJP has urged Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to allot defence land free of cost to the State Government for key infrastructure projects in Shillong.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, BJP spokesperson M. Kharkrang said a party delegation met the Defence Minister and highlighted the need for defence land to facilitate the proposed four-lane road connecting Rilbong and Barik.
According to Kharkrang, the project is crucial for easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity in the state capital. The delegation requested that the required land be made available at the earliest to enable timely implementation of the project.
He further informed that Defence Minister Rajnath Singh assured the delegation that the matter would be examined by the Ministry of Defence.
