The Meghalaya BJP has demanded an inquiry into the recurring landslides along the under-construction Shillong-Dawki road project following the latest major landslide reported on Sunday.
Speaking to reporters, BJP spokesperson M. Kharkrang said the recent incident was not an isolated case, pointing out that similar landslides have occurred repeatedly along the project corridor.
He stressed the need for a thorough investigation to determine the causes behind the frequent slope failures and road disruptions. According to Kharkrang, the findings of the inquiry should be used to implement corrective measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
The BJP leader also emphasized that commuter safety and the long-term stability of the Shillong-Dawki road project must remain a top priority for the authorities.
