After weeks of speculation surrounding the reported resignation of Voice of the People Party (VPP) MDC from Mawkyrwat, Pynkhrawboklin Kharjahrin, as an Executive Member (EM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), the development has now been officially confirmed.
The resignation became effective after the Governor of Meghalaya, C.H. Vijayashankar, formally accepted his resignation.
The resignation letter submitted by Kharjahrin has not been made public, and the reasons behind his decision to step down remain unclear. Although reports of his resignation had been circulating for nearly a month, no official confirmation or explanation had been forthcoming until now.
According to a notification issued by the State Government’s District Council Affairs (DCA) Department through the Commissioner & Secretary, the Governor has accepted the resignation of Pynkhrawboklin Kharjahrin from the post of Executive Member of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council under Rule 21(1)(b) of the Assam and Meghalaya Autonomous Districts (Constitution of District Councils) Rules, 1951.
