HEADLINES

Shillong: The MDC of Mawlai, Teibor Pathaw on Wednesday inspected the ongoing renovation works to beautify Mawlai Nongkwar view point.

The MDC of Mawlai, secured a scheme worth T.1 crore from KHADC under the ‘council assets’ scheme. This viewpoint commonly known as Sonapani offers a glimpse of two stunning waterfalls, Bishop and Beadon’s Fall.

In an effort to enhance the attractiveness of this tourist destination, Teiborlang Pathaw, the MDC of Mawlai expressed satisfaction with the pace and effectiveness of the ongoing work. MLA Teibor Pathaw expressed excitement about completing the work on time or earlier. This would not only create job opportunities for residents but also make it one of the most alluring tourist spots in the state.

The rangbah shnong of Mawlai Nongkwar, Bah Moonstar Rumnong, and the district council engineer, along with other members of the area, were also present during the inspection of the view point.

Due to lack of maintenance, the view point has been neglected by visitors. With the initiative of the MDC, the once popular tourist spot will hopefully regain its lost glory.
