The Govt is constitutionally empowered, use your given right to arrest the Assam Police involved in the Mukroh firing: Goerge Lyngdoh

HEADLINES

Shillong, November 28: The Meghalaya Pradesh Trinamool Congress which is the Opposition in Meghalaya has demanded that the Meghalaya Police to go and arrest the Assam Police personnel who shot the 5 men of Mukroh on the 22nd of this month.

The Opposition has made this demand at the meeting of all political parties called by the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Kongkal Sangma following the Mukroh incident last week.

The Chief Whip of the Opposition, George B.Lyngdoh while addressing media persons after the meeting said that as is evident, the Meghalaya Government has been too soft with regards to the said incident, as well as with other incidents at border.

He said that Opposition has expressed its disagreement to the investigation of a Judicial Inquiry Commission constituted by the two states, because the one constituted by Assam will end only in Assam and the one constituted by Meghalaya will not be able to go and investigate the police personnel or government officials of the Assam Government. On the other hand, Lyngdoh said that the investigation by the CBI too is not yet known when it will begin and when it will be completed and expressed that the CBI which is a Central Agency may be on the side of the BJP which is in power in the Central Government and Assam Government.
