CM firm about not scrapping the Meghalaya Regulation of Gaming Act, 2021

Nongpoh, September 26: The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Kongkal Sangma has again reiterated that the Meghalaya Regulation of Gaming Act,2021 will not be scrapped as this Act was introduced to regulate the forms of gambling that have already been there.

He said that the introduction of the Gaming Act is to regulate those pre-existing forms of gambling which have been carried on illegally all this while, and the Gaming Act will also help to stop the locals from playing or placing bets on the games.

He said that a question has arisen with regards to the introduction of new forms of gambling such as casinos, however, for this, the Government has clearly stated that all processes have been stopped, and only until all stakeholders are consulted will the Government take a decision on this matter.
