Shillong, September 27: The Spokesperson of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), Saket Gokhale on Tuesday challenged the leaders of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) Government to an open debate with the media as witness in Shillong.
Earlier Gokhale had challenged the Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong to a one-on-one debate over governance, and this other challenge of Gokhale to the MDA Government comes after the comment of the Chief Minister, Conrad K.Sangma that he does not know him. Conrad K.Sangma said that it is not possible for the Government to accept debates with anyone any topic and added again that he does not know a Saket Gokhale.
After the comment of the Chief Minister, Gokhale wrote again to the leader of the MDA Government, and this letter was also put up on the Twitter handle of the AITC Meghalaya in which were written the words, ” Mr CM, What’s MDA Hiding?”, apart from the words, ” As the people must know the truth, let’s debate!”
In the letter written to the Chief Minister, Gokhale challenged the MDA Government to a one-on-one debate with the media as witness, over the implementation of the smart meters, the collapse of the new Legislative Assembly dome, the implementation of the Smart City project, the implementation of the Saubhagya Scheme and corruption in the procurement of vehicles in the Police Department.
He further stated that if the Government is free of corruption, at least one Minister of the Government should have the guts to uphold the Government in the debate with the Opposition.
