Shillong, September 26: Around 7:30 AM today, a rubber factory in 11 Mile Mausmai Basti, Ri-Bhoi District caught fire, posing a threat to the residents as well.
As per source information received, the damage from the fire is estimated at a few lakhs and about 4 tonnes of rubber were completely destroyed by the fire, however no person was hurt in the incident and the fire was contained with the timely arrival of the Fire Brigades from Meghalaya and Assam.
The fire in the factory created panic amongst the residents leading them to run chaotically along with their livestock, the people expressed concern about the presence of the factory in the middle of a residential area as it causes a lot of pollution in the village.
