Shillong: As a mark to express their opposition to the high handedness and oppression of its party workers in the State especially in Tura, the BJP of Meghalaya has informed that it will stage a peaceful public demonstration on the streets to express their protest against the Government’s action.
This was informed by the President of the BJP in Meghalaya, Ernest Mawrie while speaking with the media.
From Mawrie’s side yesterday he had received a letter from an office bearer of the BJP Tura City in which he alleged that the OC of Tura PS has summoned the General Secretary of BJP Tura City to appear at Tura PS and what is shocking after that however was that this leader of the party in Tura, Wilver Danggo was detained upto 6 hours by the police and not only that, but the information received is that the police have also started summoning other office bearers or members of the party to appear at their police stations.
On learning about this incident, at the meeting held today in Shillong, Ernest Mawrie informed that a unanimous decision has been taken and that is the leaders and office bearers of the party will stage a peaceful public demonstration on the streets to express their opposition to this highhandedness on the office bearers and members of the party in Shillong and Tura.
