The people want to see a change, Congress to field 60 candidates : Chatrath

SHILLONG,June 03: The All India Congress Committee representative incharge of Meghalaya, Manish Chatrath said that the people of the State are looking forward to a change now and they also love the Congress party. He said that the party has its own way of functioning, and there are a few leaders who want to join the party which presently cannot be revealed as yet.

He said that the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has started its process to strengthen the party before going to the Assembly Election of 2023, and expressed that the party will contest in all the 60 constituencies of the State. He said that for now the Congress will choose a candidate through the Election Committee to be forwarded later to the AICC for approval.

On being queried about the news that there is an intention to invite Dr.Mukul Sangma to return, Manish Chatrath refuted any thing of that sort and said that the MPCC has no knowledge about the said news.

On being queried further about working with other parties after the Election, he said that the party has not had a talk on this matter as it is too early.

With regard to the 5 suspended MLAs, the leader of the party said that the party has not received any communication about them returning to the party.
