SHILLONG, April 25: The Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC) has put up a demand with the Government in order to relocate from Them Ïew Mawlong. After the meeting, the Chairman of the Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC), Gurjeet Singh said that the residents of Them Ïew Mawlong have demanded from the Government to provide a plot of land and money for them to build their own houses, and not to be relocated to the houses built by the Government.
The demand of the HPC was presented at the second meeting between the Government and the Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC), held today the 25th of April to relocate the residents from the area.
Singh said that the area in Them Ïew Mawlong is 3.33 acres and is owned by the residents of the area, and in exchange for the area, the Government must give about 10 acres of land to build houses in the European Ward.
He said that in exchange they want plots in European Ward, that is 200 sq/metre for each household.
