Mawkyrwat, April 23: In order to promote cycling, the Mawkyrwat District Cycling Association ( MDCA) organised the Mawkyrwat District Level Cycle Race (MDLCR) 2022 at the Ground of St.Micheal LP School, Jakrem( Pyndenspar) in which 4 siblings won the cycling race.
The intention in organising the cycling race is to encourage the children and the youths of the area to always strengthen their body through cycling. Through this platform, provided for them to come forward and participate, it can also be one of the way for people to stay away from various destructive activities which have started to increase these days such as drugs and at the same time it can also be a means of getting to know other people.
H.Stalin Diengdoh, retired MCS, SDO of Ranikor Civil Sub-Division in his speech as Chief Guest expressed his best wishes to the Mawkyrwat District Cycling Association (MDCA) for organising this event which is the first of its kind in the District of SWKHD and is confident that from amongst the youths, both male and female, stars will emerge who bring in accolades and pride for the region by getting a chance to participate in different places in the District and the State as well.
The winners in the cycling race in the category of 16 kilometres- Gear were Gilbert Wahlang (41.58 mins), Maitshaphrang Kharwanniang(41.58 mins) and Alvindarson Wanñiang(43.07 mins), and in the category of cycles without gear, Willborn Wahlang( 40 mins), Overlyne Kharwanniang (40.59 mins) and Shanlang Nongsiej (43.48 mins).
In the category of Sub-Junior, the winners amongst the males were Kerry Wahlang, Kevin Lyngdoh and Sharai Jyrwa, while amongst the girls, the winners were Balasiewdor Wahlang, Darihun Sohshang and Daphibansiewdor Lyngkhoi.
On this day were also present the office bearers of the Mawkyrwat District Cycling Association (MDCA), and the parents of the participants in the competition.
