SHILLONG, March 24: The MLA of the United Democratic Party (UDP) from Khliehriat who is also a Minister in the Government, Kyrmen Shylla said that in any election, when there is a fight, one cannot take things lightly as the fight is for the people to witness through actions.
He said that the public will judge accordingly what he had done in the last 5 years and what Nehlang Lyngdoh had done in the 10 years that he was the representative of the constituency, and added that he is confident the public as they had given him a chance as a youth with trust and faith, they will give him another chance in the upcoming election, for the people understand that any representative cannot finish all the tasks within 5 years.
On the claim made by Nehlang Lyngdoh that he had handed over the task to the youths but they did nothing, Kyrmen Shylla said that this claim is wrong as it is not the handing over of one person but it is the trust of the people on their representative to provide the best service. He further stated that it was not the handing over of Nehlang Lyngdoh to him or the former MLA, Justine Dkhar to become the MLA of the constituency, and he expressed hope that the public will not allow for the claim that it is only one person who hands over to someone to become a representative.
The Khliehriat MLA further said that the claim made by Nehlang Lyngdoh that there is no development at all in the constituency, perhaps it might be because there are some pending unfinished work from Nehlang Lyngdoh’s end, and he urged that if there is then he should inform him so he can something as an MLA.
Kyrmen Shylla also said that as a representative he has tried to complete many unfinished work, and expressed that perhaps there are a few unfinished work of Nehlang Lyngdoh which he wants to complete which as an MLA he has no knowledge of, and the claim that there is no developmental works in the past 4 years is incorrect, in which he also expressed that there will come a time when he will submit a report to the public on all the works he has done in the past 5 years.
