The National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme observation of World Tuberculosis Day organised by the Office of Ri-Bhoi District Tuberculosis Officer, Ri-Bhoi,Nongpoh on the theme of ” Invest to end TB. Save lives” observed the World Tuberculosis Day which was held in part to create public awareness on the danger of the rapid spread of TB in India every year and the rise of mortality rates from this disease.
On this day besides the awareness imparted by the Officer to the public, prizes were also distributed to students who won in the different competitions conducted by the Office of the District Medical Health Officer, Nongpoh relating to the theme of this day and on certificates were also distributed to youths from different localities and villages in Ri-Bhoi District who were ready to volunteer and go to every household to gather information on the presence of any TB patient in the house which lasted for upto 20 days and on this day as well, certificates were distributed to ASHA and Anganwadi workers and also healthcare workers.
The programme was held in Science Hall, Nongpoh in the presence of the MLA of Nongpoh constituency-Mayralborn Syiem as Chief Guest, D.C of Ri-Bhoi District- Arpit Upadhyay, MDC of Nongpoh- Balajied Ranee, Dr. M Syiemlieh-DM&HO Nongpoh, Dr.P.N.Chyne- Medical Superintendent, Nongpoh Civil Hospital and other officers of the Department of Health.
