SHILLONG, March 03: Mawhati MLA, Dasakhiatbha Lamare said that he has received the approval from the World Bank for the construction of the 40 Kms 2-lane road from Umsning- Jagiroad which is 80 Kms in total with an allocation of ₹134 crores.
He said that the fight to get the above-mentioned road sanctioned started from the time he became an MLA in 2018, and also expressed that there are many statutes from the World Bank that were required to be provided, and the only formality left to complete are a few paper work which is expected to be completed by this week, and he said that by the end of March, the PWD will start notifying calls for tenders for the construction of the aforementioned road.
Lamare, expressed his sadness over his inability to actualize this work sooner in the previous years as expected, and he asks for the people of Mawhati to forgive him for this. He said that one of the reasons which caused a delay in the construction of this road are the hurdles faced in procuring land in a few villages.
Today, the leaders of the NPP Mawhati Block met with the MLA to discuss on this 2-lane road, in which Lamare clarified to them the hurdles and also of the progress of this work.
R.M Mukhim, the Working President of NPP Mawhati Block expressed the yearning of the public to have the road actualized, and the meeting was held to get some assurance from the MLA, and added that the meeting was a pleasant one as the MLA made it known to them the progress of the work. He said that the MLA also gave his word that Mawhati will not lose this road.
The General Secretary of NPP Mawhati Block, Donboklang Kharnaior said that as leaders, they met with the MLA to know about the progress of different schemes and to especially seek a clarification on the Umsning-Jagiroad road for the public. He said that the road is eagerly awaited and the public are also looking forward to the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of the road.
