In a significant operation on 22nd August 2024, alert troops of BSF Meghalaya successfully foiled a smuggling attempt by apprehending two Indian nationals at the International Border of East Khasi Hills district, Meghalaya.
During the operation, two Indian nationals, residents of Khanduli, East Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya, were apprehended while carrying contraband items worth Rs. Rs. 70,11,960/- in a Mahindra pickup vehicle at the Pongtung area. The consignment was intended for smuggling to Bangladesh.
The apprehended individuals and the seized items have been handed over to Customs Office Pynursla, East Khasi Hills, for further legal proceedings.
