The Shillong City Police have clarified that the reported incident of a minor girl being attacked with a syringe by two bike-borne men in Jaiaw last month was fabricated.
On August 18, Lumdiengjri Police Station had received information that a teenager was allegedly injected on her right shoulder near the Bible Society of India, Jaiaw, by unidentified assailants wearing helmets. The report sparked widespread fear and concern among the public, prompting police to register Lumdiengjri PS Case No. 108(08)2025 under Sections 123/125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
A thorough investigation was subsequently launched, during which all evidence was carefully examined and witness statements were recorded before the Court. Police have now confirmed that the incident did not occur as claimed in the FIR, and that the teenager had fabricated the story.
Superintendent of Police (City), Vivek Syiem, IPS, informed that a Final Report will be submitted to the competent Court in line with legal procedure, officially closing the case.
