Shillong: Congress MLA from Mylliem, Ronnie V Lyngdoh, stated that the 2028 MLA elections in the Khasi-Jaintia region could potentially be a significant contest between the Indian National Congress (INC) and the Voice of the People Party (VPP).
He mentioned that many people, including intellectuals and educators, have expressed a desire to align with the Congress party. He emphasized that the Congress party is inclusive and has introduced many development schemes, such as the 100-day employment scheme and financial aid for underprivileged women.
Regarding former leaders and MLAs who might return to Congress, Lyngdoh said that the party’s doors are always open to those willing to genuinely work for the people. He added that the party would assess those returning based on their past contributions and commitment.
