Shillong: Deputy CEM of KHADC and Congress leader Pynshngain N Syiem has admitted that the recent departures of several MLAs and MDCs from the party have impacted the Congress and demoralized its supporters. Speaking today, he acknowledged the challenge but noted that the public is increasingly leaning toward Congress compared to other parties.
Pynshngain expressed that the party might face difficulties finding suitable candidates in certain constituencies for the upcoming MDC elections. However, he emphasized that they will carefully choose strong contenders, particularly in constituencies where they did not win in the last election. In areas with former MDCs, he believes Congress still has a good chance of success.
Regarding potential leadership changes in the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee, Pynshngain stated that there have been no discussions on this matter, and the party continues to support MPCC President Vincent H. Pala.
When asked about Sniawbhalang Dhar’s ₹100 crore defamation claim against Pala, Pynshngain declined to comment.
