Shillong: Health Minister Wailadmiki Shylla on Wednesday said the state government has constituted a committee to examine the concerns raised by employees of the 108 Emergency Services, who have also demanded that the service be brought under direct government management.

Responding to queries, the minister said the government is awaiting the committee’s report, after which a decision will be taken. He added that the final call is likely to be made after the return of the Mission Director of the National Health Mission, who is currently on election duty outside the state and is expected back after May 5.

Shylla further informed that a delegation of 108 Emergency Services workers met him earlier on Wednesday to present their grievances.

The development comes amid ongoing discussions on improving the functioning and management of emergency response services in the state.
