Laws Too Weak to Protect Children, Says MDC Winston Tony Lyngdoh

HEADLINES

Shillong: Nongtymmai MDC Winston Tony Lyngdoh, who joined the search for the missing four-year-old in Nongrah before her body was discovered, said the incident reflects a disturbing pattern of violence against children in the area. He stressed that such crimes occur repeatedly, pointing to weak child protection laws that lack effective enforcement.

Lyngdoh added that while laws exist, they often fail to deliver justice due to inadequate implementation. He urged that communities and local leaders must come together to create safeguards and address rising cases of abuse. He assured that discussions with village authorities will be held to strengthen community vigilance and ensure children’s safety.
