Shillong: Minister incharge of Fisheries Department, Alexander Laloo Hek on Wednesday informed that the department have constituted a Fact Finding Committee to examine on the alleged contamination of formalin ỉn imported fishes coming into the state.
This came after the Minister had called upon the Fish Retailer and Wholesaler Association to discuss on the issue on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the Association have submitted a report showing that no formalin was used in fishes spices exporting to state from Andra Pradesh.
The Minister informed that the Fact Finding Committee will be headed by the Secretary of the Fisheries Department, and the Minister have directed the committee to submit finding reports within few days.
On the Association demands to send experts to Andra to access on the matter, the Minister said the government will take necessary steps if needed.
