Shillong : The Hynniewtrep Border Dispute Redressal Forum (HBDRF) on Thursday called upon the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to address on the issue of inclusion of the Khasi Phar Villages under Block 1 area to the Electoral Rolls of the state of Meghalaya.
Speaking to reporters, Thomas Passah a representative of the Forum informed that under the Block 1 area there are 43 villages which the forum has requested to be included in the electoral roll of the State of Meghalaya.
“The individuals who are staying in these villages can obtain EPIC from their original place of residence as of now the practise is this the people from border area, even though they have an EPIC but not in the original place of residence but in a village that is much inside Meghalaya which is a non disputed village. So this might bring controversies while setting up the border disputes”, said Passah.
However, the office of the CEO has assured that only an individual can enroll in the electoral roll by filling up the form 6.
“The forum will go educate the people so they can fill up the forms 6 by mentioning their original place of residence not a fake village”, added Passah.
