NIA investigation of HNLC members has no connection with the peace talk: CM

HEADLINES

Shillong, December 02: The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Kongkal Sangma said that the summon issued by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to the 4 members of the Hynñiewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) has no connection with the peace talk because the investigation is separate.

He said that when there is a talk with the Home Ministry of Central Agencies conducting the investigation the Government tries to find ways how to move forward. He said that the peace talk is also one such way to remove such hurdles.

Yesterday the leader of the Opposition, Dr.Mukul Sangma expressed fear that the summon issued to the leaders of the HNLC may lead to mistrust in the peace talk and posed a question before the Government if this has been notified to the Government of India.

Conrad Sangma while addressing the media this evening said that this Government has moved forward for a talk which was arranged as well after many rounds of discussion with the Union Home Minister and Home Secretary to the Government of India because no talk can move forward without the knowledge of the Central Government.
