HEADLINES

Shillong, December 02: The National President of the National People’s Party (NPP) who is also the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Kongkal Sangma said that he will contest the Election only from one constituency in the upcoming MLA Election, that is South Tura.

News had spread fast that Conrad Sangma will be contesting from 2 constituencies in the 2023 MLA Election. On being queried about this, Conrad denied the claims and stated that at present he intends to contest only from South Tura.

The news about the NPP Chief contesting the Election from two constituencies had spread fast after the NPP candidate was badly defeated by the candidate of the BJP, Bernard N.Marak in the MDC Election last year, and Marak is preparing himself to stand against Conrad from South Tura in the upcoming MLA Election.

Conrad Sangma said that he has no reason to forego South Tura and he has the trust of the people from the constituency, and with regards to contesting from another constituency, he has not taken any decision yet, but it will depend on the situation.
