UDP in Mawlai torn apart after former MLA and hundreds of leaders leave the party


Shillong : The United Democratic Party of Mawlai Circle was torn apart after forefront leaders including former MLA of Mawlai , Embhahlang B.Syiemlieh took the decision to exit the UDP and also sent letter informing of the decision to the President of the party, Metbah Lyngdoh.

The decision of Embhahlang B.Syiemlieh who is also the Chief Adviser of the UDP State Youth Wing was also taken along with hundreds of supporters and enthusiastic workers of the UDP who were all present at the meeting held on the evening of Friday.

The exit of the forefront leaders along with the former MLA can be understood to have come about after it was announced that the incumbent MLA who has been suspended from the Congress party, P.T Sawkmie will be contesting the Assembly Election of 2023 from Mawlai constituency on a UDP ticket with Embhahlang Syiemlieh also having extended his support to Sawkmie then, however, just a few months later, it all turned upside down after the office bearers of the UDP Mawlai Circle no longer showed any kind of respect to Embhahlang Syiemlieh and the office bearers who are with him.
