SHILLONG, July 30: The Deputy Chief Minister who is also incharge of the Power Department, Prestone Tynsong said that the HYC perhaps is confused after receiving the RTI report on the price of a smart meter, while also stating that his explanation in the Legislative Assembly is only for the price of the smart meter only without adding other items and the GST.
The Hynniewtrep Youth Council recently had revealed the findings as per the RTI report that the price of one smart meter is not at all the same with what was answered by the Minister in the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.
Clarifying on this finding of the HYC, Tynsong said that the HYC has received the calculation in which is also included other items necessary for the installation of a smart meter, and added that there are 4 types of smart meters with different prices and the use of a smart meter for different phases will be as per the power required.
He informed that a single phase smart meter and a three phase smart meter, DT meter, LT meter and HD meter are priced differently. He further said that his answer in the Assembly is correct because the price of one single phase smart meter is Rs. 3750/- excluding other items required for installation, the meter box and GST.
He said that he had already answered that the price of a smart meter is Rs.5889/- along with the box, wire and installation of the meter and other items including the GST, while for a three phase smart meter the price will be Rs.11,238/- including all the required items for the installation of the meter.
