AITC MLAs are suddenly up in arms after the MDA Government agreed to the resolution: CM

HEADLINES

SHILLONG, July 26: The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Kongkal Sangma said the protest of the MLAs and members of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) in Delhi to demand the inclusion of the Khasi and Garo language in the 8th Schedule is just for political mileage.

He said the leaders of the AITC are suddenly active now after the Government agreed to the resolution, and if they wanted to do something they should have agreed to the resolution long ago.

The statement of Conrad Kongkal Sangma comes after the leaders of the AITC went to Delhi to protest with placards today the 26th of July to demand the immediate inclusion of the Khasi and Garo language and also to reject the Border Resolution Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

He said that it is good that they are coming out now to pressure the Government to recognise the native languages of the State.

With regards to the MoU on the border resolution he said he finds it funny that the leader of the Opposition and members of the AITC are demanding for the rejection of the memorandum, and this demand shows that they are demanding for the reports they themselves had prepared to be rejected.
