SHILLONG, July 20: The Education Minister of Meghalaya, Lahkmen Rymbui rejected the report which showed that education is downgrading in Meghalaya. He said this report has been prepared by a private agency and not by the Ministry of Education which gives out the Performance Grading Index(PGI).
He said what had been released in the report of the Observer Research Foundation is not true because since this Government took over the reins of rule,it had put ahead 3 important matters to upgrade education, that is to ensure quality teachers, trained teachers and good infrastructure.
He said the Meghalaya Government in the past 4 years has allocated a majority of the budget in providing good infrastructure for schools because without proper infrastructure better and improved learning cannot be expected.
