SHILLONG, July 20: The Director General of Police (DGP), Dr.Lajja Ram Bishnoi today the Wednesday of the week visited a few parts of Mawlai which includes Mawlai Kyntonmassar, Mawdatbaki and Phudmuri. In this visit of the DGP, he also interacted with a few residents and students.
The DGP also met the Rangbah Shnongs of the said localities to hear their needs and especially to build on a close relationship of the police force and the public, as well as to get to know and be acquainted with the place better.
Speaking with media persons, DGP Bishnoi said Mawlai is a peaceful town, but the residents have expressed their concern on the growing problem of drugs.
Responding to the query on the demand of the Seng Samla to establish a full-fledged Anti-Narcotic Task Force in Mawlai, the DGP said it is not difficult to set up an ANTF team but added that it is more important that there be a cooperation of the police force and the local residents to eradicate drugs from towns and localities.
