Government concedes to the adhoc teachers’ demands, salary to be increased by RS.9000/- and RS.6000/-

SHILLONG,July 04: The State Government has taken the decision to increase the grant for the Adhoc school teachers. This decision was approved today the 4th of July by the Cabinet.

The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Kongkal Sangma informed that the Cabinet has approved increasing the grant paid to schools and this will be implemented from the 1st if July and with this decision, the Government will have to incur an added expenditure of more than Rs.100 crores per year which will be deducted from other departments.

He said that the adhoc teachers are from private schools which receive a lumpsum aid from the Government which was last enhanced in June, 2017.

With regard to the demand to increase their salaries by 5 percent every year, the Chief Minister informed that the Government has not taken a decision on this matter because they are private schools and it is up to the Managing Committees to make the arrangements because they charge the school fees.

As per the statement of Conrad Sangma, the Government has increased the salary by Rs.9000 for Higher Secondary teachers which means that they will now get Rs.33,000 instead of Rs.24,000, for Secondary School, the teachers will be paid Rs.29,000 now instead of Rs.20000, the Science teachers will be paid Rs.31,000 from Rs.22,000. For other teachers, the salary will be increased by Rs.6000 which means that Lower Primary teachers’ salaries will be paid Rs.18,000 from Rs.12,000, Upper Primary Rs.22,000 from Rs.16,000, Hindi teachers Rs.18,000 from Rs.12,000 and fourth teachers Rs.18,000 from Rs.12,000.
