On the 14th of May, 2022 at about 3:00 AM an incident occurred in which 3 shops situated in Down Gate Nongpoh, Ri Bhoi District were completely burnt down in a fire which resulted in major financial losses for the shop owners.
Speaking with the shop owners of the shops and also with a few other elders of the locality, they informed that the shops are suspected to have been set ablaze by a few vengeful people because these shops are small shops which only sell kwai and fruits and they also use only solar powered lamps for light. Furthermore they also said that there was electricity supply all night and it came back on only at about 7:00 AM in the morning which is why they highly suspect that they were set ablaze by a few vengeful people.
It was also informed that these shops and also nearby shops from time to time have been forcefully opened and robbed by unidentified miscreants.
